Dallas Dreams and Bridal Bells

Well, I’ve booked my reservations at the Gaylord Texan Resort in Dallas for the Beauti Control yearly celebration and training event, aptly named “Celebration.”  All I have left is to plan the trip around my sister’s bridal shower!  Fly down to Dallas, then to Houston, then back to Spokane.  Whew!  All this along with Home Depot and my crazy schedule there…

Speaking of crazy schedules, I assumed I would be opening this Monday and told a bunch of clients that I would deliver orders on Monday night – nope I had to work a 9-6 first time ever on a Monday, so I get home at almost 6:30 and am rushed and trying to get everything done, haven’t eaten since noon.  My absolutely wonderful husband actually skipped the national basketball championship game to help run me around in the rain so I could make faster time (he knows all the short cuts).  He specifically wants me to make sure that my parents know that he missed a championship game to support my spa business.  Can we say “brownie points?”

The spa business has been incredible.  And beyond the extra $1000 bucks in my pocket last month, I’m really finding the leadership aspect to be a trip.  I love it – I love arranging meetings and celebrations and sending emails to help spur people along.  Who KNEW that when you actually love your job you love your job?  I’ve NEVER EVER loved a job.  It even makes me like leadership at Home Depot even more…odd…I guess being a good leader is just that – it doesn’t matter what you are doing.  Now if I could just get Home Depot to give me some normal hours and pay me as well as the spas do, and make all the lumber and tile and crap that I have to load all the time NOT so heavy and have it smell like heavenly lavender and peppermint and eucalyptus, we’d be in businesss!!!

I went up for a management test in Spokane for Home Depot last week, and hear I did well, though my manager hasn’t sat down to review anything with me.  It’s kinda weird – you did great you should be proud of yourself! But no real feedback.  Maybe I was perfect…NOT!  Hopefully there will be time to get some real feedback from that whole process soon, so I can know what I need to work on.

Anyway, life is so busy, but it’s really good.  I feel light years away from how I felt 3-4 months ago.  A positive outlook really does help, and I truly believe my business is helping me with that.  It’s incredible to see what the power of one is, and then to build upon that with a team…it’s great.

I hope the best for you all…
